I’m Still Here…

Jeff  —  October 16, 2011 — Leave a comment

So it has only been about seven months and seven days since my last post, but who’s counting?  Well…I am.  I have finally come to the realization that I needed to sit down and get back on track.  That is what this post is all about.  I am a long way off of my post per week goal, but with this post I hope to regain some traction. Busy and Overwhelmed

Jeff  —  March 8, 2011 — Leave a comment

I am overridden with guilt as I realize that it has been almost a month since I last posted. Definitely a far cry from my 3-4 post per week goal!  The story behind this? Well…I have spent the past few weeks finishing my first term for my Master’s Degree.  Between that, spending time with my family, and doing my “regular” job…blogging has fallen in priority.  I told myself that during my week break in between terms I would get back on track.  A week has gone by and I am not on track.  I find myself a little overwhelmed with everything that is going on right now. More Than A Coach

Jeff  —  January 22, 2011 — 3 Comments

A couple of days ago I learned that my high school football coach, Jack Schugars, retired after 42 years of coaching.  This is definitely an accomplishment and much more can be said about his coaching.  His win/loss record was 262-78.  He won 19 league titles.  He had 20 playoff appearances, won 3 state titles, and is the Muskegon area’s most winningest football coach.  Not to mention that he was my dad’s assistant football coach when my dad played football.  Talk about staying power!  Why would I dedicate an entire post to my football coach?  Because he was more than a coach. I’m Going Back To School!

Jeff  —  January 10, 2011 — 3 Comments

It’s official!  I am going back to school!  Today I begin work on my Masters of Theological Studies at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.  This is something that my wife and I have been talking about for some time now.  We finally decided that this is probably the best time to continue my education.  Life will only get more complicated and filled with more responsibility…so why not now? Need A Reading Plan?

Jeff  —  January 5, 2011 — 3 Comments

I am a huge believer in using some sort of Bible reading plan every year.  It helps people stay on track with their reading as well as see their progress.  I want to challenge you to begin using some sort of plan this year if you are not doing so already.  I guarantee you it will bring more life and consistency to your time with God.

There are many plans out their that are geared for people of all levels of spiritual maturity. There is no excuse why you couldn’t try at least one these plans. Continue Reading…

DON’T GIVE UP!

Jeff  —  January 3, 2011 — Leave a comment

If there is one thing that I would encourage you to write down somewhere where you will see it everyday, it is this phrase.

“DON’T GIVE UP!”

We have begun the New Year and many of us are back into the regular routine of things.  We are off and running with new goals and resolutions that we have established for ourselves. Continue Reading…

Day #2

How much money do I usually spend on one Christmas gift?  This is the question I asked our Jr. and Sr. High students the past couple of Wednesday nights. Continue Reading…

Today I wanted to share with you what I am reading and some books that are on my list to read.

Made To Stick” by Chip and Dan Heath.  Great book…this just might be another must read!  Good for church leaders, businessmen, or anybody who wants to make an idea stick. Continue Reading…

Clearing The Clutter

Jeff  —  October 5, 2010 — Leave a comment

There are times when this just has to be done!  Whether it be the garage, your car, your desk, your computer, or even your kitchen counter…clutter has to be eliminated.  None of us really like to do this.  As a matter of fact, we avoid it as long as we can.  We avoid it until we can’t stand it any longer!  When we wait this long to clear the clutter it is often a bigger job than what it should be.

This is a question that my wife and I have asked ourselves on occasion.  Last night was one of those occasions.  Upon looking around the restaurant Rochelle commented that there are a lot of people who do not seem happy.  As I looked around the room I saw what she was talking about.  You know what I mean…they come in and sit down, look at the menu, and order their food all the while barely looking or talking to one another.  The unhappiness and loneliness is so visible you can almost touch it.  This is when my wife said, “What do you think people see when they look over at our table?” Continue Reading…
