I’m Still Here…

Jeff  —  October 16, 2011 — Leave a comment

So it has only been about seven months and seven days since my last post, but who’s counting?  Well…I am.  I have finally come to the realization that I needed to sit down and get back on track.  That is what this post is all about.  I am a long way off of my post per week goal, but with this post I hope to regain some traction. Busy and Overwhelmed

Jeff  —  March 8, 2011 — Leave a comment

I am overridden with guilt as I realize that it has been almost a month since I last posted. Definitely a far cry from my 3-4 post per week goal!  The story behind this? Well…I have spent the past few weeks finishing my first term for my Master’s Degree.  Between that, spending time with my family, and doing my “regular” job…blogging has fallen in priority.  I told myself that during my week break in between terms I would get back on track.  A week has gone by and I am not on track.  I find myself a little overwhelmed with everything that is going on right now. A few weeks ago my pastor said from the pulpit that the church is supposed to be supplemental in the raising of your children.  I take this idea very seriously as a pastor and I am always trying to find ways to equip parents.  Today I want to recommend what I would consider the best worship music out there for children right now.

More than a few times a parent has asked me how they could get their hands on quality worship music for their children. Continue Reading…

Snowmageddon

Jeff  —  February 2, 2011 — 3 Comments

It is the aftermath of what people are calling, “Snowmageddon.” The snow has finally stopped, but to try and get out of your house or neighborhood is virtually impossible.  My next priority is to shovel the driveway.  This should be fun, since it is 2 degrees outside right now.  I honestly think that this is the worst snowstorm that I can ever remember!  So this leads to the question, what to do on a snow day?  These are some of the things I will be doing. Do We Have Answers?

“If parents are not intellectually engaged with their faith and do not have sound arguments for Christian theism and good answers to their children’s questions, then we are in real danger of losing our youth.”

-William Lane Craig

I came across this quote in a book called, “Reasonable Faith: Christian Truth and Apologetics,” which I am  reading for my apologetics course. Continue Reading…

And I Married This Woman?

Jeff  —  January 8, 2011 — 1 Comment

Marriage is about sacrifice, selflessness, and a willingness to place the needs of your family ahead of your own.  That is what today is all about for the Ferguson family.  I am not in this partnership for what I can get out of it.  I am in this partnership to be a willing servant, to make sure that my wife feels loved and appreciated.  Today…that is what I am setting out to do. “Everybody cheats.  This principle is already at work in your life…one way or another.  When you put it to work for you, it has the power to transform every facet of your life.  When you choose to cheat in accordance with God’s priorities for your life, it is an invitation for Him to bless you in ways you never dared to imagine.”

DON’T GIVE UP!

Jeff  —  January 3, 2011 — Leave a comment

If there is one thing that I would encourage you to write down somewhere where you will see it everyday, it is this phrase.

“DON’T GIVE UP!”

We have begun the New Year and many of us are back into the regular routine of things.  We are off and running with new goals and resolutions that we have established for ourselves. Continue Reading…

The Best of 2010

Jeff  —  December 31, 2010 — 2 Comments

Here we go!  The following is a list of what I consider to be some highlights from this past year.

  • Rochelle and I celebrated five years of marriage!  It is so hard to believe that it has been five years already.  I love my wife just as much as when I saw her walking down the aisle almost five and half years ago.  I still say wow!
  • We celebrated Madelynn’s 1 year birthday party!  This year has been amazing as we have watched Madelynn grow up.  I love her so much! Continue Reading…

Week #52

Jeff  —  December 27, 2010 — Leave a comment

Here we are…the last week of the year!  The church that I work for generously gave us this week off.  I look forward to this time every year as it is a time to unwind and refocus myself for the next year.  Holidays on the church calendar are a busier time as we are ramping up to prepare for special services.  As a result, the week off after Christmas always comes at a great time!  I am ready for it!
