I’m Full!

Jeff  —  November 30, 2013 — Leave a comment

I’m not full just because of all of the turkey and pie that I have consumed this week, but I am full as I think about the past fifteen months of my life.  As you can see, I have been very quiet here on my blog during that span of time.  And by quiet…I do mean incredibly absent.  Even though I have been absent here, I have endeavored to be incredibly present in other areas of my life.  The past fifteen months for my family and I has been an incredible season of transition and new beginnings. Following is just the tip of the iceberg.

1.  We have moved to Henderson, KY to assume the Senior Pastor role of First Assembly of God.
Leading a thriving church has been a dream of mine since I was very young.  After God called me into the ministry, I always knew that I would lead a church and trusted God to bring about the correct timing.  In July of 2012 that dream was realized as I was elected Senior Pastor of First Assembly of God.  The past fifteen months has been filled with moving to a new city, building new relationships, getting settled into a new house, and getting to know and love the staff team that God has put in place here at First Assembly.  We have seen many exciting things happen over the past number of months as people have come to Christ, been baptized, and have been equipped for ministry.  I am so excited to be able to pastor such a great family of believers and to be a part of the unique calling that God has placed on First Assembly.
2.  Madelynn started Pre-school!

Madelynn’s first day of pre-school!

Just before last Thanksgiving Madelynn started Pre-school.  It is so hard to believe that I already have a child who is in school.  She is loving school and making new friends all of the time. It is so fun to hear about what she is learning and how the mind of  pre-schooler works.
3.  Rochelle, Madelynn and I welcomed our new baby girl Joy Renee into the world.
On August 21, 2013 at 11:15am Joy Renee Ferguson made her debut into the world.  She is living up to her name already and has been welcomed with open arms by her big sister.  Unfortunately, she had to stay in the NICU for seven days, but is a very healthy baby who cannot stop smiling.  We are actually going to have Joy dedicated in our Sunday morning service on December 8.  I am looking forward to that day as it will be something we will remember forever.
What a smile!

What a smile!

The Ferguson family has been moving at a pretty high speed for the past fifteen months!  As I look back it is hard to believe everything that has happened in such a short amount time.  God has truly blessed us in every area of our life and we cannot wait to see where He will take us.

For those of you who did not know that this blog even existed, I want to encourage you to subscribe by clicking on the envelop icon or the orange rss feed icon at the top right of the page.  These posts can come to you right in your email box or through your rss feed.  Moving forward, you can expect a post more than once in every fifteen months.  Well…I will do more than that and will aim for posting on a weekly basis, but I can’t make any promises.  I talk about topics mainly having to do with family, ministry, and leadership.  There will also be a great deal about what is happening at First Assembly as well so that you can stay up to date on events, information, and the direction of our church.
Before you leave go ahead and leave a comment below on what God has been doing in your life over the past couple of months.

It is the aftermath of what people are calling, “Snowmageddon.” The snow has finally stopped, but to try and get out of your house or neighborhood is virtually impossible.  My next priority is to shovel the driveway.  This should be fun, since it is 2 degrees outside right now.  I honestly think that this is the worst snowstorm that I can ever remember!  So this leads to the question, what to do on a snow day?  These are some of the things I will be doing. Do We Have Answers?

“If parents are not intellectually engaged with their faith and do not have sound arguments for Christian theism and good answers to their children’s questions, then we are in real danger of losing our youth.”

-William Lane Craig

I came across this quote in a book called, “Reasonable Faith: Christian Truth and Apologetics,” which I am  reading for my apologetics course. Continue Reading…

And I Married This Woman?

Jeff  —  January 8, 2011 — 1 Comment

Marriage is about sacrifice, selflessness, and a willingness to place the needs of your family ahead of your own.  That is what today is all about for the Ferguson family.  I am not in this partnership for what I can get out of it.  I am in this partnership to be a willing servant, to make sure that my wife feels loved and appreciated.  Today…that is what I am setting out to do. The Best of 2010

Jeff  —  December 31, 2010 — 2 Comments

Here we go!  The following is a list of what I consider to be some highlights from this past year.

  • Rochelle and I celebrated five years of marriage!  It is so hard to believe that it has been five years already.  I love my wife just as much as when I saw her walking down the aisle almost five and half years ago.  I still say wow!
  • We celebrated Madelynn’s 1 year birthday party!  This year has been amazing as we have watched Madelynn grow up.  I love her so much! Continue Reading…

Week #52

Jeff  —  December 27, 2010 — Leave a comment

Here we are…the last week of the year!  The church that I work for generously gave us this week off.  I look forward to this time every year as it is a time to unwind and refocus myself for the next year.  Holidays on the church calendar are a busier time as we are ramping up to prepare for special services.  As a result, the week off after Christmas always comes at a great time!  I am ready for it! Merry Christmas from the Ferguson family!  To the readers of this blog here is our 2010 Christmas card.  Some of you I have never met and do not know, but I hope you have a GREAT Christmas this year.  This card is just a little snapshot of what the past twelve months have meant to Rochelle, Madelynn, and I.  Believe me when I say that it has been a great year!  Merry Christmas! It’s Christmas Eve.  I have just finished my shopping and I am frantically headed home to wrap the gifts and put them under the tree so that I can be on time for our Christmas Eve service.  Mission accomplished!  Or so I think. Continue Reading…

Today I begin what I am going to call “My 12 Days of Christmas.” 12 days before Christmas (not consecutive) I will post something Christmas related.  Some days it will be a tradition that we have as a family, something from Scripture reminding us of the birth of Christ, or a ministry idea that I have concerning Christmas. So today December 1, I present to you day 1 of “My 12 Days of Christmas.” Continue Reading…

Six years ago today I was nervous…I was excited…there was anticipation of what was to come.  It was this day that my life was going to change forever!  Today marks the day I asked my wife Rochelle to marry me.  That’s right…right before the Thanksgiving meal with both of our families present.  She never saw it coming!
