40 Days To Easter: Day #3

Today’s Reading: John 12:12-19

What stands out to me the most about John’s account of the triumphal entry is the disciples’ response to these events as they unfolded.  Verse 16 is very telling as to what the disciples were thinking and feeling on this incredible day.

“At first the disciples did not understand all this.  Only after Jesus was glorified did they realize that these things had been written about him and that these things had been done to him.”

40 Days To Easter: Day #2

Today’s reading: John 12:1-11

In today’s passage, we see an incredible display of extravagant worship that cost Mary everything she had.  Driven by deep gratitude for Jesus, she did what a person does when they realize just how much they have been forgiven.  She took a jar of very expensive perfume and regardless of the cost poured it all on Jesus’ feet.  Instead of thinking about how much she was giving up, her thoughts focused on how much was given to her. In light of the incredible grace extended to her, the gift she gave still fell short.  This goes to show us that extravagant worship spares no expense.  When we focus on the grace extended to us, there is no display of worship that is too costly. Today’s Reading: Matthew 21:1-11
Today is an exciting day as we begin to prepare ourselves for the greatest day in history, the resurrection of Jesus Christ.  I believe over the next forty days God will speak to us as a church family and stir something new within us.  My prayer is that we would not stumble into this Easter season but that we would anticipate what God wants to do in us.  My prayer over these next forty days is that we would encounter Christ in a fresh way.

I am coming to you from 36,000 feet on my way to Irvine, CA for the Catalyst conference.  I am sitting back enjoying my in flight beverage…water.

This trip is going to be different than any other trip I have taken.  This is Madelynn’s first time on an airplane.  So far she is doing great!  Right now she is enjoying her in flight beverage of choice…a bottle.  I think she is going to be a great traveling companion. Continue Reading…

Dodged Another Bullet

In all honesty, I do not feel the same about every message that I preach.  Sometimes I feel really passionate about the message going in and others are more of a struggle for me.  I don’t know if this makes me less spiritual or really…what it says about me?  I just have this feeling every time I get up to communicate God’s Word to a group of people that I dodged a bullet.  This weekend was no exception. Great Night at Park Hill

Jeff  —  April 2, 2010 — 1 Comment

This morning I woke up tired but feeling excited about what happened last night at Park Hill High School.  There is nothing better than seeing 50 or more students raise their hands signifying that they wanted to accept Christ into their lives.

I spoke about choices and how everyone of us make thousands of choices  everyday.  Ironically, what many of us forget to think about is where we will spend eternity.  This is the biggest choice that we will ever make an yet it doesn’t get priority. Continue Reading…

Time To Slow Down

Wow!  It has been quiet on here lately.  This is just one indication of how lately my schedule has been managing me instead of me managing my schedule.  I have been anxious, short tempered, impatient, and tired.  All signs that my priorities may be slipping.  Also, signs that I haven’t taken the time to spiritually refuel like I need to.
